County Captain 2024

If someone had told me I’d be County Captain 15 years ago, I’d have thought them deluded. For years my husband Phil had encouraged me to join him and take up the game but like a lot of people I resisted and thought golf was stuffy and exclusive. I soon found that I was completely wrong.

After a career in nursing and our two children had left home to go to university I succumbed to the pressure and joined Sherwood Forest Golf Club in 2009. After 6 weeks of hacking the ball around I was hooked. Sport has been a big part of my life but golf is the hardest and most frustrating game I have ever played. The lovely people and friendships I have made along the way make it all worthwhile.

My mission as County Captain is to encourage participation in County golf at elite and handicap level whilst never losing site of promoting golf as a fun and social activity.

So 15 years after I first took up the game I am delighted and proud to be County Captain. Thank you to Caron Harrison for proposing me, I hope to represent Nottinghamshire County Ladies Golf in a positive and friendly manner.

Please come and say hello if you see me around. I look forward to meeting more of you in 2024.

Best wishes
Julie Revill
