Junior Scratch Matches at Shirland
An early start at Shirland GC on Sunday 7th July. The scratch team of Lizzie Wilson, Millie Marsh, Amelia Hogg (Capt) and foursomes pairings of Maddison Clarke and Emily Toft-Brown, were ready for battle against a strong Derbyshire side. The weather was very unsettled, with a cold wind, rain and the occasional sunny spell, but the team pulled out an impressive 2½ : 1½ win over Derbyshire, with Lizzie leading the way, winning her match, Millie finishing early with a decisive win and Captain Amelia bringing a great half a point with a fantastic putt on 18, having gone to dormie 2 down. Foursomes pairing Emily and Maddison had some tough luck in the morning round, but played well. Results Sheet.
The afternoon was warmer, and the team were fired and ready to go against another strong team, this time from Shrophsire. The games once again were up and down, with the lead swapping places in all matches as a regular occurrence. However the Shropshire side finally got the measure of us and won all four games, but they were close and congratulations to Maddison and Emily who took their very strong opponents to the 17th hole.
