County Championship & Spring Meeting 2022
On Friday 13th May, at Sherwood Forest GC, we held the 36 hole stroke play stage of the County Championships, and also the 18 hole Spring Meeting. Sherwood was as magnificent as always, but presented an extremely hard challenge due to the strong gusty wind, which did not let up all day! Despite this, there were some very good scores in both events.
In the 36 holes, Maddie Smith (Norwood) won the scratch prize with 145, and Amelia Hogg (Norwood) won the nett with 147. Norwood Park also won the team prize, their youthful team of Maddie, Elizabeth Wilson and Amelia retaining the trophy they won last year.
The Spring Meeting scratch prize was won by Bev Cook (The Nottinghamshire) with 84, with Helen Haycox, also from The Nottinghamshire winning the nett prize with 74. Maggie Burrows from Mapperley added to the excitement of the day with a hole in one on the 10th - no mean feat into that strong wind!
