NCLGA Inter-Club and League Rules

General Rules

  1. All players must be current members of the County Association
  2. All matches shall be governed by the Rules of the Royal And Ancient Golf Club and the Local Rules of the course over which the match is played
  3. The entry fee shall be determined at an Annual General Meeting, the money so received being used to provide prizes for the Inter-Club Finalists
  4. It is not necessary that a club be represented by the same players throughout the course of the competition
  5. A competitor is not eligible to play for more than one club during a tournament
  6. Each club entering shall be represented by players who must have been members of the clubs from January prior to the tournament
  7. Notice of the results of each match must be sent to the Hon. Secretary by the winning club, in the case of the Inter-Club within 48 hours
  8. Disputes shall normally be settled by the Captains of the Teams concerned. In cases where this method proves unacceptable, the disputes shall be referred to the Council whose decision shall be final
  9. Entry fees must be paid before the first competition

Inter-Club

  1. The tournament shall take the form of a Competition by Foursomes under handicap, the limit of such to be 24. One club against another as determined by the draw. Players with a higher handicap may take part, playing off the limit. Each Club represented by 2 couples, shall play one round of 18 holes and the club having holes to their credit on the combined results of the two matches shall be entitled to play in the next round. The ladies' Secretary or Match Secretary of the top club in each tie shall be responsible for making arrangements with the Ladies' Secretary or Match Secretary of the Host club
  2. All rounds must be played on the date stipulated on the draw sheet. If there is any difficulty in fixing a time for the match, it shall be played in the afternoon
  3. Handicapping - half of the difference between the aggregate handicaps *
  4. In the event of a tie in any round, both couples shall play three more holes. If still a tie, both couples shall play sudden death until a result is combined. In the event of play becoming impossible, the match shall be replayed and, if the clubs cannot agree on a date, this shall be fixed by the Council. The representative of the club where the match is being played shall decide whether play is possible. If the course is not available for the replay, a new course shall be decided by the Council

Match secretaries of the host club are asked to make sure that their own club is aware of when they will be hosting a match, particularly mixed matches and also that food will be available should it be required

 

League - Silver & Bronze

  1. The tournament shall take the form of a Competition of seven singles matches :
    Handicap limit for Competition ; Silver 0 - 20, Bronze 21 - 32
    Handicaps on the day of the match must conform to the limits. Players with higher handicaps may take part but must play down to the handicap limit
  2. All rounds should be played by the dates stipulated. If not played by this date no points are awarded to either side. 1 point to be awarded for each match, ½ point for a halved match. Clubs failing to provide a complete team will forfeit all non contested games
  3. Handicapping - full difference between handicaps *
  4. The matches will be at home for the first club in the draw. If no agreement as to time of start, matches to be played in the afternoon
  5. On the completion of all matches, the winning club in each section to go up and bottom club to go down
