Katie beats Lianna on 18th to retain NCLGA Championship
Congratulations
to Katie Best (Sherwood) who beat Junior Champion
Lianna Bailey (Notts) in one of the best NCLGA
Championship finals for some years
The match referee, Maureen Clarke, has provided the following report,
and thanks to Mick for the photos :
After halving the 1st and 2nd holes, Katie won the 3rd hole with a
birdie 3, and followed it up with a shot next to the pin on the short 5th
for a 2, to go 2 up. Lianna won 7 & 9 where Katie dropped shots, to be
all square after 9, both girls out in 37
Katie was on the 11th for 2 so got back to 1 up with a birdie, she then
drove the short par 4 12th for another birdie but Lianna fought back with
a birdie 3 at the 14th and a par at 16 to get back to all square after
Katie took 3 from the edge of the green. Lianna went into the bunker at
the 17th but got up & down to save par but as Katie had put her tee
shot next to the pin, her birdie putt took her back to 1up. Katie then put
her second shot dead on 18th for another birdie to take the match 2 up.
Katie came back in 32, Lianna in 34 making 69 and 71 gross
respectively. A great match which I really enjoyed refereeing

RELEASE
2010
ROEHAMPTON GOLD CUP
The 84th Ladies’ Open
Gold Challenge Cup, scheduled for April 17th at Roehampton Club in London,
will not be taking place this year.
It is with much regret that the Organising Committee has had to
take this decision due to major
development works at the Club which began last September and unfortunately
are likely to continue well into April.
This work includes the implementing of a flood mitigation programme.
In addition, there is to be extensive bunker renovation. The
Organising Committee would like to present the course in the best possible
condition. They ask for
your understanding and invite you to support the Gold Cup next year.
The
event will be back on SATURDAY APRIL 16TH, 2011
