Junior Section

Presentation Evening for 2010

A Presentation evening for the County girls, was held at Oakmere Park Golf Club on Saturday 5th February. 80+ parents and girls attended, bringing with them cups and trophies the juniors had won over the last year, at National, county & club level.  The trophy table was laden! The prize table!

After an enjoyable supper, Jane gave a short talk on her 7 years as Junior organiser.  The junior section has developed in leaps and bounds with our girls traveling the country, playing in many different competitions.  The county now has over 100 girls as club members with approximately half having attained handicaps.

Our teams and the girls with higher handicaps, have benefited greatly with the help and guidance received at Rufford Park from John Vaughan and James Thompson.  They are both very generous with their time and Rufford have welcomed the girls on a regular basis .

Jane expressed her delight in the teams manners and said how she had been very pleased to receive compliments on their behaviour etc from other counties officials.

Christine Muse is also retiring having been Jane’s assistant.  Christine was mainly in charge of the Robins who receive their coaching at Oakmere.  The Robins are girls new to the game who either do not belong to a club or have no handicap. We hope that the Robins will continue at Oakmere and look to the County Golf Partnership for our next intake of girls! Both Christine and her helper Jean, received small gifts from Jane.

Mr Roy Case, secretary of the Notts Union of Golf Clubs, very kindly presented the girls with their certificates and cups, finishing by saying he had attended all of these Presentation evenings and was delighted to see so many there.

Rachel (Vice Capt), Emma (retiring Capt), Jane, Emily (Captain)Emma Newlove,  as retiring Junior Captain, thanked Jane for her hard work and support, and Emily Cheshire, the new Captain presented her with a very generous gift from the girls and wished Sue Taylor, the new Junior organiser, good luck in her new position.  As a final gift, John & James presented Jane with a certificate giving her Honorary Life membership of Rufford Park. (tears all round!)
