Committee of Jane Brewer, Wendy Nicholl, Maureen Clarke and Joan Underwood
(Chairman) was set up in 2005 and all clubs were sent a letter requesting
suggestions for celebrating the Centenary in 2008. Accordingly, the following arrangements were made. Centenary
Lunch The County
officials are hosting a celebratory luncheon at Notts Golf Club, Hollinwell, on
Thursday 11th September 12 for 12.30 p.m. - 2.30 p.m.
Invitations have been sent to 80 County members including past and
present Officials and the Lady Captain and another Committee Member from each
Golf Club in the County. Beautifully crafted china coasters will be presented to all
those that attend. All the
commemorative china has been decorated with the County Badge, oak leaves and
acorns with a gold surround by our talented County Junior Organiser, Jane
England. County
Centenary Competitions It is hoped
that entries will be good this year for the County Championship and Spring
Meeting at Sherwood Forest Golf Club 13th-15th May, the
Coronation Foursomes at Ramsdale Park Golf Club on 9th June, the
Summer Meeting at Chilwell Manor Golf Club on 7th July, the
Veterans’ Trophy at Edwalton Golf Club on 4th August and the Autumn
Meeting at Beeston Fields Golf Club on 8th September.
All players will receive a memento - a special ball marker and all
winners of these events will receive a commemorative plate. Club
Centenary Event Clubs have been asked to organise a Club Centenary Stableford competition and event in their own unique way but with 2 Divisions - Silver and Bronze. It is up to each club to decide on handicap limits within each Division - it will depend on the range of handicaps within the Club. A china tea plate and cup has been provided for first and second place in each division. The Club can decide which they wish to present for first prizes and which for second prizes. We hope to
publish the results of these competitions on the website throughout the year County Centenary Match - Click here to see reprot from the matchTo celebrate
both Nottinghamshire’s and Derbyshire’s Centenaries we have been invited to
play a four ball better ball match at Chesterfield Golf Club, Walton.
We used to play Derbyshire until 1970.
Chesterfield is where Enid Wilson learned her golf and she was Derbyshire
Champion before coming to Notts and becoming Notts Champion. Participating in
this match will be past and present officials, champions and county players;
some will play 18 holes, some 9 but all players will have an evening meal and
celebrate together at the end of the day. |
